BANGALORE: The Bangalore Electricity and Supply and Company (BESCOM) is looking to invest close to Rs 360 crore in an ambitious project to insulate all the wires which are running inside the city. The insulating material, made of rubber, ensures that the wires do not cause short circuit when other wires come in contact. The city will be divided into North, South and East divisions and the first phase of the project will cover areas from each division according to a BESCOM official. He added that the South Division would get around 398.68 km of wiring and the North which would include areas like Malleswaram, Peenya and Rajajinagar would be covered with 350 km and the East Division including Vidhana Soudha and Indiranagar would have 415.03 km of insulation. The project will look to insulate both low and high tension wiring and will be extended in the future to all areas under BESCOM including rural areas like Ramnagaram, Nelamangala and Kolar.
