Sugar prices have dropped by nearly Rs four in the wholesale markets.
New Delhi: Wholesale sugar prices have fallen raising hopes of the consumer also getting the benefit of drop.
Sugar prices have dropped by nearly Rs four in the wholesale markets and it is now available at Rs 38 per kg from Rs 42 per kg just a couple of days ago.
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar promises that retail prices will also drop in a few days. But Pawar also say that will take another two weeks for prices in the retail market to fall.
"Sugar prices in wholesale markets have come down from 42 per kg to 38 per kg. In retail it will take 10-15 days to come down," says Pawar.
Prices in Baghpat, one of India largest wholesale sugar markets, were Rs 3,980 per quintal on January 15, down from Rs 4,280 per quintal on January 13.
