India and China have agreed to maintain peace on the border and resolve all outstanding disputes.

New Delhi: India and China have agreed to maintain peace on the border and resolve all outstanding disputes at an early date through peaceful negotiations. Both the countries also committed themselves to counter terror in a joint statement released on Thursday in New Delhi following the talks between Prime Minister Manmoham Singh and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

China had put a technical hold on UNSC resolution 1267, designating three Pakistan-based terrorists after Mumbai attacks. But now China has called for an implementation of the resolution and others related to 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed, Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Lashkar-e-Toiba, which is a good news for India

The joint statement shows that for first time China has called for disrupting financing of terror.

But China has not agreed ask Pakistan to expedite Mumbai trial or dismantle terror infrastructure.

China also remained silent on the question of supporting India's bid for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council. The joint statement just said that China "understands and supports India's aspiration to play a greater role in UN Security Council".

India and China agreed to establish a strategic economic dialogue and set a trade target of $100 billion by 2015. A decision to set up an India-China CEO forum was also taken. The two countries also agreed to encourage mutual investment, handled economic and trade frictions appropriately and opposed protectionism in all forms.

Wen Jiabao also invited Manmohan Singh to visit China in 2011 which has been accepted by the Indian government.
