Dharmana set to resume duties

In what is seen as an exercise to get back to his official work, roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao on Tuesday obtained the stamp of approval from his constituents that he need not press for the acceptance of his resignation, but instead continue in the cabinet.

The minister, who resigned on Aug 14 told workers of his constituency that he did no wrong and that as revenue minister, he had no role in the allotment of lands to VANPIC.

He only issued GOs in pursuance of the decisions taken at the cabinet.

The minister wanted the CBI to investigate the role of the officials in the issuance of GOs too instead of singling him out.

Rao said he would fight a legal battle to prove that he was not guilty of misconduct or malfeasance and would cooperate with the CBI in its investigation.

The minister had no spite against the CBI.

“They are investigating the VANPIC project and in the course had included my name.

The CBI officials are only discharging their duties,” he said.

Rao was received by his followers and taken in a motorcycle rally from Navabharat junction.
