Farmer ends life

KANNUR: One more farmer committed suicide at Cherupuzha in the district on Saturday, unable to repay the loan taken by him from a bank.The body of the farmer, Kunhiraman, 75, was found hanging from a tree near his house. He had taken a loan of `80,000 from the Payyanur Agricultural Development Bank for arecanut cultivation. He had to repay `1 lakh including interest to the bank. The bank had served a notice on him three weeks ago asking him repay the loan.The failed crop and the bank notice to repay the loans had caused much tension to the farmer, locals say.
