HOSUR: A special Fast Track Court (FTC) to dispose of cheque cases under 138 Negotiable Instrument Act was launched here on Sunday.Inaugurating the court, Madras High Court Judge T Sudanthiram said FTCs in the country have helped dispose of sessions cases as early as possible. These courts were set up in 2001 on temporary basis, but were made a permanent facility in many places. Later, the Law Commission of India suggested to set up special FTCs to dispose of cheque related cases, which were on the rise in the country. Based on this, the special FTCs were being set up, he said.Terming strikes as a great weapon for advocates, Sudanthiram also warned them against using it quite often as the public were being affected due to such acts. On public extending support to Anna Hazare, he said they were with Hazare as he was against corruption. In his welcome address, Principal District and Sessions Judge K Perumal said advocates and judges should cooperate to dispose of the cases at the earliest. Through their evidences and arguments, he said the advocates could guide the judges to dispose of the cases speedily.Ravichandran has assumed charge of the judicial magistrate at the Hosur special FTC and tried two cases in the court on Sunday as part of the court inauguration. Krishnagiri Chief Judicial Magistrate S Kannammal proposed a vote of thanks at the function.
