BANGALORE: For all you tech junkies who spend most of your time online, a day without access to Google, would seem almost unimaginable and unbelievable. In that case, you must have checked yesterday’s Google Doodle! Google came out with an interactive doodle to celebrate the 78th birthday of Robert Arthur “Bob” Moog - an American music enthusiast; best known for his invention of the Moog Synthesiser. Visitors to the homepage of world’s most popular search engine can simply play by clicking on its keys, using a cursor. Besides, they can also create their own music, as Google allows visitors to record, play back and even share their composition on social networking site Google+ by clicking on the g+ button. Visitors can use the virtual synthesiser for adjusting volume and other controls like mixer, oscillator and filter.Robert Moog recalling the Moog synthesizer (which made a appearance in 1964) has been famously quoted as saying, “I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I was doing this thing to have a good time, then all of a sudden someone’s saying to me, ‘I’ll take one of those and two of that.’ That’s how I got into business.”Bangalore is no stranger to electronic music with home to bands like Trip Hop/Downtemp, which has taken the nation by storm. Even the Twitter world on Wednesday was abuzz with ‘Google Doodle’ as one of the most trending topics. One of them tweeted, “Yes.... go ahead and practice the DDLJ theme song using the Google Doodle. That will impress her.”Venky Nayak, a musician and a vocalist with city-based music band Illuminati, says, “It is awesome. Like always, Google has done a fabulous job with their latest doodle. Huge respect to Bob Moog, the man behind the synth and to google for spreading awesomeness.”Moog’s work was recognised and honoured with a Grammy Trustee’s Award for lifetime achievement in 1970 and a Special Merit/Technical Grammy Award and an honorary doctorate degree from Berklee College of Music in 2002.Born on May 23, 1934, Robert Moog, founder of Moog Music, was best known as the inventor of the Moog synthesiser. Diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumour, Moog, died at the age of 71. This is not the first time that Google has come out with a playable doodle. It had done this on June 9, 2011, to celebrate the 96th birthday of a famous American guitarist and song writer, Les Paul, who has a guitar named after him.
