CHENNAI : The 14th Graduation Day of Vel Tech Engineering College was held on May 19 at 10 am in Vel Tech Dr RR & SR Convention Centre, Vel Tech North Campus. Dr R Rangarajan, founder & chairman of Vel Tech Institutions presided over the function. Dr R P Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the gathering. Dr M Koteeswaran, advisor, introduced the chief guest to the audience.Dr V Sumantran, executive vice chairman, Hinduja Automotive Limited & vice chairman, Ashok Leyland Limited, Chennai was the chief guest and delivered the graduation day address. He distributed gold medals to the 23 university rank holders, 2 branch toppers & 730 degree certificates to the graduates.In his graduation address Sumantran pointed out that India would occupy a very important position among the countries of the world shortly. So there is a lot of opportunity for technical graduates in the 21st century. He advised students to develop self-confidence and have belief in their skills. The students should take the innovative path to attain their goals in life. “There is no shortcut to success, only hard work will pave the way to success”. He urged the graduates to serve the country with commitment. They should also serve society and humanity by showing compassion, devotion to duty and focusing on the right things in life. Vice chairman Dr Sakunthala Rangarajan, chairperson & managing trustee Dr Rangarajan Mahalakshmi, KVD Kishore Kumar, director, Vel Tech graced the occasion.
