CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday sanctioned Rs 20.20 crore for providing skill and human resource development training to educated unemployed youth and those studying in Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Arts and Science colleges.The training is being implemented under the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Mission (TNSDM) launched by the State. The CM has allotted Rs 6 crore for this purpose, which would benefit 15,000 youth. For providing soft skills training to 25,000 students of Government Arts and Science Colleges, the CM has allocated a sum of `7.5 crore, while earmarking Rs 50 lakh for training the instructors.Jayalalithaa has also granted Rs 25 lakh in the first phase for setting up a world class training institute under Public Private Partnership (PPP) to train youth in areas like aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, shipping and servicing. Similarly, the CM gave sanction for Rs 15 lakh to set up a TN State Skill Registry.The CM also sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for introducing e-modules and simulator-based training.
