PUDUCHERRY: The Madras High court granted a stay on the closure of Sooriya Hertiage Inn, ordered by Puducherry collector under Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act 1956 last week.A heritage hotel and two guest houses had been ordered to close by the District Collector S B Deepak Kumar under Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act 1956 for a period of four months. The orders were served on Sooriya Heritage Inn at Muthialpet, G Guest House on Anna Salai and Little Pearl Guest House at Reddiarpalayam on March 30. They had been given seven days time to vacate the premises and stop all activities.The proprietor of Sooriya Heritage Inn moved the HC against the order and subsequently a stay on the order was granted. The G Guest House was closed as it did not have trade licence to operate. Immediately after the incident involving a minor came to light, the Little Pearl Guest House closed for renovation.The minor girl was rescued from G Guest House,in November last year but was kidnapped from the hospital where she was taken for treatment. Investigations traced links to the confinement of the minor girl in Sooriya Heritage Inn where she allegedly refused to entertain customers and prostitution was allegedly carried out in the Little Pearl Guest House. Thereafter, she had disappeared and is yet to be traced even after four months.
