Bhopal: Faizan met his wife and married her a couple of years ago. Now, the man is in jail after calling out talaq three times over the phone and eloping with her niece, who happens to be a minor.
The incident was reported from Aishbagh in Old Bhopal. Faizan, 20, met Rehana (name changed) from the same locality and they fell in love. As the love blossomed between them, their families got them married.
After the marriage, Faizan met with the 14-year-old niece of Rehana and in no time fell for her. They decided to elope.
When the family found out, they lodged a complaint with Ashoka Garden police over the disappearance of their daughter.
Acting upon their complaint, the police lodged a case of abduction against Faizan and started looking for the missing duo. Faizan had called one of his friends in Kanpur and asked him to arrange a Qazi to solemnise his marriage. However, the plans fell flat as he called up his friend after landing at Kanpur railway station and found his friend’s phone switched off.
On patrolling, GRP jawans spotted the duo and after initial interrogation, the two were taken into custody.
The girl told police in Bhopal that Faizan had misled her saying that he has convinced his wife for the second marriage and then divorced his wife on phone from Kanpur, an enquiry officer from police said adding that wife of the accused would also be quizzed in the case.
