New Delhi: A 30-year-old woman employed with an export company was allegedly gangraped and murdered and her body dumped in a Delhi Development Authority (DDA) nursery in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area.

The incident comes almost a month after rape of a 27-year-old woman executive by the driver of a popular taxi service Uber in south Delhi.

The woman went missing on Friday evening and a missing complaint was filed by her husband.

According to the investigators, they have got vital leads about two to three friends of the victim who could be behind the incident and claimed they will be arrested soon.

Police, however, refused to divulge details about them saying it could hamper the investigation, but claimed that the case will soon be solved.

The incident came to light around 8:20 AM on Saturday when a security guard informed the police about the body which he had spotted lying in bushes.

"The semi-naked body of the woman was found in the bushes of the nursery with its hands and legs tied while her cloths were in a dishevelled condition," said a senior police official.

"Prima facie, it seems that she was killed after being gangraped. Her perpetrators also subjected her to unnatural sex and even inserted a foreign object into her private parts.

"One of her cloths was found tied around her neck and she might have been strangulated with it. The body has been sent to post-mortem which would reveal the exact cause of her death and the nature of sexual assault," he added.

The victim was a resident of Sultanpur area in South Delhi and lived with her husband, who after having met an accident suffered serious injuries to his legs was generally confined to home.

They had three children.

The woman, who was the sole breadwinner of her family, had left from home Friday morning at around 9:30 AM for a nearby export company's workshop where she worked as a tailor.

However, when she did not return till late evening, her husband started searching for her and also informed the police which registered a missing complaint, police said.

"The reason behind the brutal act is yet to be ascertained but it could be a crime of passion," he added.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on, police said.
