Thettamala Krishnankutty, 84, who was a close aide of Naxal leaders Varghese and K Ajitha, died on Wednesday at his residence in Thrissilery after protracted illness.
He was also part of the Goa liberation movement and had been jailed several times during the country’s freedom struggle.
He was serving a jail term when Varghese was killed in a ‘police encounter’ in the Thirunelli forest on February 18, 1970.Krishnankutty was also part of the team that attacked the police station at Pulpally.A voracious reader, Krishnankutty, known as ‘Valyettan’ in the Naxal circles, used to write in periodicals and has published several books.
