MYSORE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has refuted the charge that his supporters met founderpresident of the National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) S R Hiremath to press withdrawal of cases filed against him.Addressing news persons here on Tuesday, Yeddyurappa demanded Hiremath to produce documentary evidence to prove the claim. He said he was not unhappy with Hiremath filing cases as he had continued to fight corruption in public life.“Neither have I gone to meet him nor have I sent anybody,” he added.Terming the charges baseless, Yeddyurappa said the people of the state know what happened to the Lokayukta report on illegal mining.Stating that he had not demanded the CM’s post, he said he would continue to serve the people. He had been experiencing a phase of “political banishment” for the past eight months, he said, and added that he would soon come out clean with the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari to serve the needy and work for the prosperity of the state which was reeling under severe drought. His detractors had joined hands to “politically finish him off”, he said. But his moral strength had increased as people and 70 MLAs were with him, he said.Asked about the Central Empowerment Committee’s recommendations for a CBI probe into corruption charges in land denotification during his tenure as chief minister, he said the people were aware of what happened to the Lokayukta report on illegal mining, and termed the report “a conspiracy by my detractors”.Ruling out his reported move to quit the BJP and launch a political party, Yeddyurappa said he would continue to tour the state and strengthen the BJP.
