HYDERABAD: Clarifying that the Supreme Court did not grant any stay on the AP High Court order quashing the forgery charge against him, senior IPS officer Umesh Kumar said Wednesday that the apex court had only asked him to file a counter-affidavit within seven days.Reacting to a news report published in these columns, Umesh Kumar clarified that the apex court, while permitting him to file a counter affidavit, said that the matter would be listed thereafter for final disposal during the vacation itself.‘’Justices Deepak Verma and Sudhanshu Jyoti Mukhopadhyaya did not grant any stay as is evident from the order,’’ Umesh Kumar, presently posted as the chairman of the Godavari Valley Development Authority, said.
