BANGALORE: Over 2000 Bangaloreans from different walks descended at the National High School Grounds on a Saturday afternoon to express their support to the Jan Lokpal Bill and resolve to fight against corruption and also to get a better understanding of the Bill from anticorruption crusader Anna Hazare along with the India Against Corruption members like Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Swami Agnivesh and Manish Sisodia.
"Karnataka ranks three among the most corrupt states in the country. According to a C Fore survey, Uttar Pradesh is ranked first followed by Jharkhand and then Karnataka," Kiran Bedi said. She further said: "This is a movement and there is no acting here. This is an objective as corruption is increasing everyday."

"Not even a single FIR was lodged during the Commonwealth Brashtachar. On November 14, we all united to lodge an FIR at the police station against the corruption during the Commonwealth Games," Bedi who gave a background of the movement said. The India Against Corruption came together when the present members went to government departments with the draft of the Bill, but no one took notice of it. All parties agreed in principle but no one wanted to comment on it. When Hazare approached the Prime Minister, he said, "We will not write the Bill together, but we will consider your thoughts about the Bill." It is then that Hazare took the fast unto death at the Jantar Mantar in the month of April, she explained.

Swami Agnivesh laid emphasis on the rampant corruption in the country as it has had, an adverse effect on the citizens, to an extent that their freedom has been taken away by corrupt people. "The hard earned money is being pocketed by corrupt officials and this needs to be stopped," he said requesting the people to draw up a list of the 50 most wanted people in the state, who will be taken to task once the Bill will be passed.

He highlighted the fact that the response of the youth in Bangalore was overwhelming.

Hazare has also set the following deadlines: On June 30, the draft should be completed and should be tabled in the Parliament on August 15. "If not, I will go fast unto death at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. As far as my body has life, I shall continue fighting and live for the welfare of the people and country," he noted.
