Schools charging excess fee to face music

CHENNAI: School Education Minister, C Ve Shanmugam, on Monday warned that recognition of those schools that collected fees in excess of what has been fixed by the committee concerned, would be cancelled.Responding to a query from T Ramachandran (CPI), the Minister said so far 444 complaints have been received by the committee headed by Justice Singaravelu for fixing fees for schools and 40 complaints have been received by the State government. After verifying the complaints through the district-level education officers, recognition of those schools that collected excess fee would be cancelled. Show-cause notices have been sent to over 40 matriculation schools against which complaints were received.
