In order to streamline the examinations in higher education, National Testing Service-India (NTS-I), Mysore, has developed a software, which is yet to be named, to prepare question papers with answer keys, said V Ilangovan, senior resource person, NTS-I.
Speaking at a national level seminar and workshop on ‘Evaluation of Uniform Syllabus Education - Tamil Text Books’ , organised by the Department of Linguistics, Madurai Kamaraj University, on Monday, Ilangovan said most universities did not prepare answer keys to the question papers. The absence of answer keys might lead to wrong evaluation, he said.
“Using the software, one can prepare the question paper with answer keys in 20 minutes. Question paper for any examination can be prepared, if questions and answers related to the subject were uploaded in the software,” Ilangovan said.
“There is no need to postpone the examination. Instead, using the software, it can be conducted with fresh question paper,” he said.
At Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), they were in the process of uploading questions and answers in the software for language subjects such as Tamil, Hindi and Urdu. They were targeting six lakh questions for each subject. They would distribute the software to the education institutes requiring it, he said.
“We have been doing the project for the past five years. Although our technical team has completed the software, it would three years for us to upload six lakh questions with answers,” Ilangovan added.
