Spurned lover slits girls throat

HYDERABAD: In yet another case of attack by a spurned lover, a 23-year-old young man slit the throat of his lover in front of her mother at MD Lines in Golconda on Friday.He took the help of three friends, one of them a woman, to inflict injuries on the girl with a knife in the absence of the male members of the family who went out to offer prayers.The accused, Rehman Pasha, is a private car driver and also tourist guide at the Golconda Fort.A resident of Sajjad Colony, he wanted to marry his cousin, 22-year-old Rizwana Parveen, and proposed to her. Rizwana completed B.Ed and is working as a teacher at a private school. Her family turned down Rehman's request as he is not well settled in job and has fixed her marriage to another man.The marriage is scheduled later this month.Infuriated, the youngster hatched a plan to take revenge. He called up Rizwana's residence on the landline phone around 2 pm on Friday to be sure that she was in the house.Rehman and his friends went inside the house and while his friends overpowered Rizwana's mother Zabeen, he attacked the girl with a knife, police said.“None of the male members of the family was in the house as all of them went out to offer afternoon prayers at a nearby mosque," Golconda police inspector Mohammed Vaheeduddin said. The girl was shifted to a private hospital at Nanal Nagar and her condition is said to be stable.A case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) was registered against the accused. Rehman and one of his friends Kasim were taken into custody.The two other accomplices have been identified as Kareem and Nazia.
