The TDP district committee and the water distribution committee, have decided to intensify their agitation if the government declares a crop holiday in Krishna delta for the current Kharif season. As a part of agitation, they have decided to block the Medarametla-Addanki-Narketpalli state highway on Friday.
Speaking at the round table conference here on Thursday, TDP senior leader Kodela Sivaprasad said the Krishna delta may be forced to go for another crop holiday even before recovering from last year’s crop holiday in Rabi season.
The delta farmers have already raised paddy in 2.50 lakh acres against 5.70 lakh acres.
The conference appealed to the delta farmers and people to join the agitation irrespective of party affiliations and protect the delta share in Krishna water for both irrigation and drinking.
