Three arrested for assault on woman

THODUPUZHA: Three youths belonging to a four-member group, accused of outraging the modesty of their friend’s mother were arrested at Rajamudi by Murukkassery police on Wednesday.Ajeesh, 27, Subin, 23, Sony, 29, were arrested under charges of outraging modesty, trespassing, assault, and theft, police said. The search for the fourth accused is on. The woman, who levelled the allegations against the youths, has been admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital, police said. A separate case has been registered against her, for allegedly attacking Susy, the mother of the second accused, Subin. Susy is being treated at the taluk hospital in Adimali for her injuries, police said.According to the police, the trouble started on Saturday, when the four youths visited the house of their friend Sajeev for Vishu feast. They consumed alcohol and ended up in an argument over Sajeev harassing the sister of one of the accused, police said. The verbal exchanges eventually culminated in a violent clash between the youths and the others present at the house.Meanwhile, sources at the Kottayam Medical College said that the medical examination of the woman, for establishing rape, had been conducted and the results are awaited.
