HYDERABAD: There is no longer a need to stand in long queues for MMTS or platform tickets. The South Central Railway (SCR) has decided to procure 15 more Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) for enhancing the issue of MMTS tickets and general second class tickets. The 15 ATVMs will be installed at the MMTS stations of Hafeezpet, Borabanda, Sanathnagar, Fathenagar, Khairatabad, James Street, Jamia Osmania, Dabeerpura, Yakutpura, Uppuguda and Sanjeevaiah Park.SCR chief public relations officer, K Sambasiva Rao told Express that SCR had installed 31 ATVMs on a trial basis at six MMTS stations last year. "Due to some technical problems, it was found the machines could not be put into full use. We have carried out the necessary improvements and now the ATVMs are functioning properly again," he said. Two months back, the SCR procured 29 more ATVMs which were commissioned recently at 10 MMTS stations. At present, a total of 60 ATVMs are installed at 16 stations including Falaknuma, Malakpet, Kacheguda, Vidyanagar, Arts College, Seetaphalmandi, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Lakdi-ka-pul, Necklace Road, Begumpet, Nature Cure Hospital, Bharatnagar, Chandanagar, Hi-tec City and Lingampally.Sambasiva Rao said the main features of ATVMs include round-the-clock service, user-friendly touch screen, tickets easily available for MMTS tickets for first and second class, second class unreserved tickets for all SCR stations as well as platform tickets.
