Traffic cops on high alert for New Year’s eve
The traffic police have tightened security in cities across the country.

New Delhi: As the preparations for New Year eve celebrations begin, traffic reservations have been put in place across the country.

In New Delhi, the Delhi Police has tightened security measures along with adding on some traffic diversions.

Connaught Place, in the heart of the city will be a traffic free zone post 1930 hrs IST in the evening.

Cars will be allowed into Mandi House, Bengali Market, Ranjit Singh Flyover, Gole market, Patel Chowk, Chelmsford Road and Kasturba Gandhi Marg.

Limited parking space will be made available around these areas on first come first serve basis.

Similarly in Mumbai, the traffic police are also out on the streets considering party deadline for the city till 0500 hrs IST.

Down South, Bangalore police have imposed some traffic restrictions on all the busiest roads. MG Road, Commercial Road will be traffic free from 2000 hrs IST to 0100 hrs IST.

Only police and emergency vehicles will be shut for traffic from 2000 hrs IST to 0100 hrs IST. There will be one-way traffic on Brigade and MG Road.
