The TRS leadership has decided to launch a new political movement to defeat the Congress in the 2014 general election.  A clear line is expected to emerge at the party conclave to be held at Telangana Bhavan here for three days from August 24. After discussing the new strategy required to face the Congress, TRS chief K.Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to make an announcement.

The TRS has come to the conclusion that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre will not deliver Telangana before the 2014 elections.

A few days ago the party had discussed reconstruction of Telangana and now it wants to put the Congress in a fix for not granting Telangana state. It has therefore decided to make all-out efforts to focus on development and other issues concerning Telangana. Earlier, the TRS had placed Telangana statehood at the top of its agenda but now wants to focus on problems people are facing without jettisoning the demand for statehood.

Recently, the TRS chief has asked his party cadre to launch agitations on the power crisis.

He wrote letters to the chief minister, attacking the central and state governments, and dashed off a letter to Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde that the state government was violating the Presidential Order in recruiting teachers in the welfare department.

Party MLAs T Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao and others are losing no opportunity to raise Telangana issues and are often threatening to take legal recourse to issues.

The din raised over the alleged injustice to Telangana in the allotment of additional seats in medical colleges, allotment of gas to power plants, release of water from Nagarjunasagar to the Krishna delta are just a few examples. The party also tried to take  the government to task on the agricultural front.

All this shows TRS’ newly-cultivated determination and aggression to put the Congress in discomfiture.
