ALUVA: A woman and her daughter were killed when a tipper lorry hit the scooter in which they were travelling, here on Monday. The deceased are Nirmala, 46, wife of Rajasekharan, Aayilyam, Muppathadam, and her daughter Krishnapriya, 7, a student of Nirmala English Medium High School here. The bodies have been kept at the mortuary of Karothukuzhi Hospital.Nirmala was an Assistant Manager at CMRL. She left the office at 3 p.m. on Monday to take her daughter to a hospital. She bought medicine from Karothukuzhi Hospital and left for home at Muppathadam in her scooter when the mishap occurred around 5.15 pm. A tipper lorry hit the scooter at Kadungallloor Valanjabalam Junction. They were rushed to Karothukuzhi Hospital where the doctors declared that they were brought dead. The postmortem examination will be carried out at District Hospital here on Tuesday. Nirmala is survived by husband Rajasekharan, an employee in Muppathadam Cooperative Society, and daughter Aarya, first year BCom student at St Paul’s College, Kalamassery. Nirmala is the daughter of Gangadharan Nair and Santha of Kanjily House, Nandipulam, in Puthukkad.Nirmala English Medium High School authorities have informed that the school would remain closed on Tuesday.
