Cooking is an art and iron tawa, one of the most used cookware in Indian kitchens, comprises a major portion of this art. The iron tawa, used to prepare chapattis, omelettes and other delicious dishes requires regular cleanliness and maintenance for proper functioning. It is because, with time, due to regular usage, grease and grim will settle on the iron tawa and turn it black. Not cleaning it will affect the food’s quality. Some people try to remove this black colour with the help of a scrub but fail. In that case, there are three simple hacks to clean the iron tawa described below.
Solution 1
The first solution to clean the blackened iron tawa is to use lemon. You should cut the lemon and squeeze it into juice. Now take some portion of the lemon juice, salt and half a teaspoon of the detergent in a bowl. Now, dip the scrubber in this solution and clean the pan thoroughly. It is followed by cleaning the pan with a piece of brick as well.
Solution 2
The second solution will require lemon juice, salt and a shampoo sachet as well. Now, place the iron tawa on a gas and heat it for some time. When the pan turns slightly hot, add shampoo, salt (1 spoon) and a little lemon juice and spread it all over the pan. Now start scrubbing the pan with the lemon peel which will gradually clean the oil and dirt accumulated on it. After some time, turn off the gas, keep the pan in the sink and again clean it by rubbing it with dishwashing gel and scrub. Irrespective of the number of stubborn stains and marks on the pan, they will be removed from the iron tawa.
Solution 3
Another thing that proves to be effective in cleaning the black and sticky pan is white vinegar. For this, you have to heat the pan and pour lemon juice and white vinegar into it. After you have done this, clean the pan thoroughly with a scrub to shine it again.
