While spending hours shooting down the colourful Angry Bird on the Smartphone, we never considered it to be one of the characters on silver screen. But, yellow and red flightless birds have emerged as endearing characters of 3D Angry Bird movie released in the US and the UK. The Hindi version for the Indian market is on its way and is slated to release on May 27 the movie has increased the curiosity of those who have been hooked to the addictive gaming app.

After the Lego movie, this here is yet another movie derived from the gaming app. This movie is an extension of the app, as the hyperactive red bird continues to rule the comedy flick too.

Gaming apps have become such as major part of our lives that the studios are cashing in on its popularity. Picking a cartoon character, comic icons and now the characters of gaming app -the world of cinema is getting more and more digitalized.

Though several movies have sought inspiration from gaming apps, video games or PSP games, but, Angry Bird is the first mobile app which has sold its movie rights.

Rovio Entertainment, the company which made the app and it sold the rights to Sony in 2013. This was the most downloaded gaming app, which had dominated everyone on iPhone and android phone.

Angry Birds: Hollywood comedy star Jason Sudeikis, previously seen in Horrible Bosses gives the voice to the red flightless bird in Sony’s animated 3D movie. Angry Bird is perhaps the only one which was downloaded three billion times since it was launched in 2009.

The Lego Movie: The 2014 live action, computer animated adventure comedy film directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, was produced by Warner Animation Group. The movie was based on the Lego line of construction toys with the voice of Chris Pratt.

Candy Crush: King Digital Entertainment, the developer of Candy Crush never thought that the popular game would be adapted as a dramatic ‘movie’.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: This is a hugely popular role-playing video game which was converted into a film for the Japanese audience. Looking at its popularity, it was later dubbed in English for the North American and European audience.

Farmville movie: This game hooked everyone on Facebook back in 2012, and the idea was too tempting for the filmmakers to convert into a movie. The movie had a dramatized story woven around the characters from the game, which incorporated graphics and themes picked from the Farmville game.
