Filmmaker David Dhawan has made many successful films over the years and now his son Varun Dhawan is also a successful Bollywood actor. However, their fame and popularity often overshadow the achievements of David Dhawan’s brother and Varun’s uncle Anil Dhawan.
Anil Dhawan stopped working in films long ago, but he made a comeback with Andhadhun in 2018. After this, he was seen in his brother’s film ‘Coolie No. 1 which was a remake of his film of the same name from the 90s. In Coolie No 1, the veteran actor shared screen space with his nephew Varun Dhawan for the first time.
According to a report in TOI, Anil Dhawan, who has worked in films for decades, said that he gets irritated when people talk about his absence from films. “I love the fact that some people still like me. But then many times such things are written about me which makes me angry. They say that I am an actor who started with a bang and then got lost. Why would they say that? I have worked a lot over the years. Also, how can people forget my contribution to the television industry for 20 years as an actor?” he added.
Anil Dhawan has been a part of famous TV shows like Parpara, Kusum, Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki, Bhagyalakshmi and Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet. His presence in these serials won everyone’s hearts.
Anil also said that he was very satisfied and happy with the work he has done in both films and television and that he has no regrets. He added that he is happy because he has developed a close bond with everyone that he has worked with. He further said how the industry has evolved over the years and how difficult it is to survive in showbiz.
Anil Dhawan added,” In our times, even if two films of an actor flopped consecutively, you would still get 2-3 more chances. But in today’s times, if your film does not work, then the producers will not invest money in you.”
