WATCH: Aiming to Seal Semi-final Spot, Pakistan Batters Try 'No-footwork Sixes' Like Glenn Maxwell in Nets
Shadab Khan and Harsi Rauf tried playing no-footwork shots in the nets ahead of their all-important game against England.

Glenn Maxwell’s ‘footless’ heroics have taken the world by storm. Bailing the team out of a precarious situation was one thing but what made his double-century great was his dedication to bat through pain and snatch a win from the jaws of Afghanistan. The Aussies were down to 91 for 7 when Maxwell took charge of the chase and blasted an unbeaten 201 in the partnership of 202 runs with skipper Pat Cummins. He was challenged by cramps and spasms but he chose to keep going and sailed the ship safely to the shore.

Maxwell very well explained how to smash the bowlers out of the bowler without any footwork. And now, the Pakistan camp is trying to learn the art. In a video shared on Instagram by ICC, a few Pakistan players, including Shadab Khan and Harsi Rauf, tried playing no-footwork shots in the nets ahead of their all-important game against England.

“Everyone wants to be like Maxi,” the caption of the video read.

Pakistan, placed 5th with 8 points, will face England in their last group-stage game on Saturday. But before heading into the face-off, they will have their eyes stuck on the New Zealand vs Sri Lanka match in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The Black Caps are placed 4th on the table and a win against Sri Lanka will take them closer to the semis. In that case, Pakistan, as well as Afghanistan, need to win their next matches by a huge margin so that they can surpass New Zealand with a better Net Run Rate to make it to the knockouts.

Afghanistan, placed 6th on the table with 8 points, are set to face South Africa in their next game on Friday. The Proteas have already qualified for the next stage as the second-best team in the tournament with 6 wins from 8 games.
