Ritika Sajdeh was seen giving a warm hug to Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree following India's World Cup 2023 semifinal victory over New Zealand in Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh was spotted hugging Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree in a video on social media. India and New Zealand clashed in an epic semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium on November 15. The Rohit-led side was able to pick up the victory off an amazing batting display from the squad before Shami shocked the world with his seven-wicket haul. After the match was over, Ritika was seen exiting the stadium with Chahal and his spouse. After a brief chat, she was seen hugging the couple before bidding them goodbye.

The video was uploaded by a fan on Instagram who wrote, “Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika with Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree post watching the semifinal in Mumbai”.

Yuzvendra Chahal was snubbed of a place in the World Cup squad of India raising several questions in the cricket world. Chahal had been an impactful leg spinner for India with a wide skill set to boast. He can turn the ball both ways while also knowing how to deliver googlies, flippers and sliders. His control and finesse allowed him to bowl yorkers and slower balls at will.

With Axar Patel getting injured right before the World Cup all eyes turned towards Chahal but it was Ravichandran Ashwin who made it to the squad in the final moment as the official replacement. Despite being snubbed, Chahal continues to remain hopeful about his chances to represent India on the biggest stage someday.

Talking about the game, India were unstoppable at Wankhede as they went on to win the match by 70 runs. They had the perfect start by winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Rohit Sharma led the charge for India smashing 47 runs in 29 balls before being dismissed by Tim Southee in the ninth over. It was Virat Kohli who showed up next as he built a solid partnership with Shubman Gill before the latter retired hurt due to an injury.

Kohli went on to complete his record-breaking 50th ODI century while also becoming the highest scorer in a single edition of the premier tournament. Shreyas Iyer followed next with another 105 runs in just 70 balls. This helped India establish a total of 397 runs while losing just four wickets.

The Rohit Sharma-led side continued their brilliant form in the second innings as well by dismantling New Zealand’s top batting order. Mohammed Shami dismissed both Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra at 13 runs to give India an early advantage.

Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell stabilised the innings for the Black Caps by building another partnership. However, Shami struck again to dismiss both Williamson and Tom Latham in the 33rd over. Daryl Mitchell was the next batter to fall as New Zealand crumbled under pressure losing all their wickets by the 49th over.

India will now be travelling to Ahmedabad for their final game of the tournament, scheduled for November 19. It will be interesting to see if they can finally end their ICC Trophy drought to seal the sport’s biggest prize.
