New Delhi: Just hours after elections results showed a drubbing for the Congress in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi, Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi blamed the Centre and its state governments for the rout.
Dwivedi also blamed Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit for the poor show of the party in the city state where the Aam Aadmi Party delivered a massive blow to the party bagging the space of the main opposition as the BJP took a slender lead and is poised to return to power after sitting in the opposition for 15 years.
The Congress leader also ruled out the assembly elections held in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Delhi were semi-finals to the general elections scheduled in 2014.
He also rubbished talks that Rahul Gandhi will replace Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister in the run up to the 2014 elections. "Manmohan Singh will remain Prime Minister. Does it seem like Rahul Gandhi is anxious to be PM," he said.
