Even as protests demanding action against Hyderabad University Vice Chancellor and union minister Bandaru Dattatreya grow louder, a new twist has emerged in the death case of dalit PhD scholar Rohith Vemula. In the alleged suicide note written by Rohith, he struck down a few lines which in which he has blamed Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) and Students Federation Of India (SFI) for being power-hungry.
In the text of those lines, he hit out at his student organisations claiming that they exist for their own sake adding that they do not work for the interest of students. He had scribbled that the only aim of these organisations is to get power or become famous adding that the student organisations very often overestimate their acts and find solace in traits.
"ASA, SFI, anything and everything exist for their own sake. Seldom the interest of a person and these organisations match. To get power or to become famous or to be important in between boundaries and to think we are up to changing the system, very often we overestimate our acts and find solace in traits. Of course I must give credit to these both groups for introducing me to wonderful literature and people," the letter reads.
These lines, however, were struck off in the letter by Rohith himself.
Seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation, Bharatiya Janata Party MLC Ramachandra Rao has said that the police has filed a false case without a proper investigation. Rao has been accused in Rohith's suicide case.
"The suicide note does not point finger at any organisation or any person. People are reading between the lines and the truth is not coming out. Striking of the 6-7 lines, shows, Rohith had disputes internally with ASA. There were internal conflicts going on in ASA and SFI. Who struck off the lines? Do the other 4 suspended have any role? It needs to be investigated. Politicians have rushed to the spot without knowing all this. Police also has not investigated properly and registered false case. Only CBI enquiry will solve this mystery," Rao said.
Meanwhile, Rohith's mother has been hospitalised in Hyderabad after she complained of chest pain on Sunday.
