Journalist hands over AAP sting operation CD to EC
He had earlier rejected AAP's demand for the raw tapes to be handed over to them and had said that he would give them directly to the EC.

New Delhi: Media Sarkar journalist Anuranjhan Jha has submitted the raw footage of the sting operation carried out by him. This after he rejected the Aam Aadmi Party's demand for the raw tapes to be handed over to them and had said that he would give them to the Election Commission directly.

"Who is AAP to give us a time? We will give any constitutional body the raw footage. We will give the raw footage to the Election Commission on Friday itself," Jha had said.

He had also added that the journalists who want to see the raw footage, can see the video in his office.

The Delhi Election Commission had asked Jha to submit the full sting operation tape by 5 pm.

Demanding for a copy of the CD, AAP had said that if it does not get the tapes by 3 pm, it will assume that the sting operation video is doctored.

"If their intention is in the interest of the country, AAP would want to see the raw tapes. If the tapes are not given to us, then we would believe that the CDs are doctored," AAP leader Yogendra Yadav had said.

He said AAP would not take any action till the raw footage is provided to them. However, he added that if any AAP member is found guilty, strict action will be taken. "Strict action will be taken against the member if he/she is found guilty and if this is a mischief then also strict legal action will be taken against the people behind it," Yadav said.

The sting operation claims to show top leaders including Shazia Ilmi ready to accept funds without proper background checks. Shazia Ilmi defended herself by saying, "The cut and paste job is my best defence and I have mentioned receipts. The credibility of the CD has to be talked about, but these are the dark forces that don't allow good things. I think it is the handiwork of either of the big parties."

The sting operation released by Jha showed some prominent faces of the AAP allegedly agreeing to accept cash for improper purposes. After the sting operation, there were more questions than answers. Jha said, "We are not saying that there is any criminality involved."
