New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas, who has said he will take on Rahul Gandhi in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, on Thursday launched a veiled attack on the Congress Vice President accusing him of not having an idea about the country's problems.
"In next 30 years, I can sleep peacefully as a satisfied man with a thought that I took on a person who has no idea of the country and whose party projects him as the future of the country. I will get the satisfaction that I tried my best in preventing my country from going into darkness," Vishwas said referring to the Congress Vice-President without naming him.
He was speaking at an interaction on "Mere Angane Mein Tumhara Kya Kaam Hain," of Panchayat Aaj Tak. It was also attended by Bhjopuri actor and singer Manoj Tiwari representing BJP, actress Nagma representing Congress and comedian Raju Srivastava from Samajwadi Party who is tipped to contest from Kanpur on party ticket.
The poet-turned-activist also targeted Gandhi for allegedly ignoring Amethi and wanted the MP's deposit be "forfeited". "Amethi is behind in literacy, MNERGA, good roads and has high mortality rate among women, malnourishment and poverty,"
he said.
Vishwas alleged around 12 pregnant women died or suffered miscarriage in the past four months because of the bad road between Raebareli and Amethi represented by the Gandhi family.
"The road connecting Raebareli from where Mother (Sonia Gandhi) and brother (Rahul Gandhi) win the entire road is full of potholes. In fact, it is difficult to say that it is a road.
"In my interaction with the women for the past four months, some 12 pregnant women have either died or suffered miscarriage because of the bad road. The new generation is getting killed because of this pot-holed road. My personal view is that the MP's (representing Amethi) deposit should be forfeited," Vishwas said.
