Why has Modi ignored Balasaheb in all his speeches, asks Raj Thackeray
The attack on Modi comes as a change as Thackeray had back in 2011 said that he could become a good PM.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday attacked BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi accusing him of ignoring Bal Thackeray during his visits to Maharashtra.

The Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena, founded by Bal Thackeray have been in alliance for more than two decades in Maharashtra.

Pointing to Modi's speeches that have apparently never mentioned Bal Thackeray, the MNS chief said, "Why does Modi not mention Balasaheb when he comes here. This despite such a long standing alliance between the two (Sena-BJP)."

Thackeray's attacks on Modi comes days after he had said that Modi should have resigned as Gujarat Chief Minister as soon as the BJP announced his name as the PM candidate.

Raj Thackeray had then also slammed Modi for praising Sardar Patel at his rally in Mumbai. Thackeray said Modi should have instead spoken about Shivaji.

The slew of contrary remarks on Modi comes as a change as Thackeray had back in September 2011 said that Modi could become a good Prime Minister and that the MNS would be happy to support him.

Speaking on the recent vandalism at toll booths across Maharashtra by MNS workers on his orders, Thackeray said that he was not doing it for political purposes. He also recalled that in the past his agitation had led to the shutting down of 56 toll booths.

"Not doing it for political purposes. In the past my agitation has led to shut down of 56 toll booths," said Raj on Sunday.
