Cat And Mouse Sleeping Together Is A Tom And Jerry Moment We Always Wanted
In the video, the cat was seen napping and playing with the mouse.

When we think of a cat and mouse, we often envision natural enemies. The law of nature dictates that the cat is the predator and the mouse is the prey. Yet, a surprising video circulating online challenges this notion. In the footage, a cat and a mouse are seen “playing" and sitting together comfortably, defying the typical predator-prey relationship. An Instagram user shared this intriguing video, sparking widespread fascination.

The video starts by showing a cat trying to harm a rat by constantly putting its paw over the mouse. It appears that the cat was chasing the mouse, who was out of its full reach. The second and most shocking scene shows the mouse sitting between the cat’s front paws and napping. The cat’s face is right next to the mouse, but both the rodent and the feline appear calm. The mouse can easily escape the sleeping cat but stays put.

This video has gathered over 19 lakh likes, since it was shared on May 29. The video was captioned, “Tom and Jerry cartoon lovers comment on your memories." Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “When you realize it is not tom vs jerry its tom and jerry." Another person wrote, “Tom and Jerry are best friends. But Tom has to pretend to hate Jerry in order to protect so Tom’s owner doesn’t replace him with a cat that actually wants to kill Jerry." Someone else wrote, “Looks like the car is securing its snack for the next Netflix binge!" The “car" is a niche internet slang for a cat.

This is not the first documented case of a cat and a rat becoming “friends". Back in 2009, a cat named Ranj and a rat named Peanut got global attention for their unique bond. Both animals were adopted by an American woman named Maggie Szpot.

Szpot told ABC News, “Peanut always wanted to be around Ranj, and she took a real liking to him. She would always want to play with him, snuggle up under his fur and she even ate cat kibble from his bowl along with him. The two were like close siblings." In 2010, Peanut died of natural causes as rats have an average lifespan of two years. Ranj then got a cat named Timmy as a playmate as her owner did not adopt another rat.
