Many poultry farms in Kerala have been shut down over the past few weeks due to bird flu outbreaks. The state has also banned the transportation of meat and eggs to and from infected areas. So far, more than 30,000 birds have died from Avian influenza. In an effort to contain the disease, over one lakh domesticated birds have been culled in the districts of Alappuzha, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta. Amid this concerning situation, a man was spotted performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on a bird in the middle of a road. Thanthi TV reported the incident, highlighting the humanitarian act.
According to the Tamil news outlet, the person tried his best to save the life of Myna. The incident unfolded in Kerala’s Malappuram The man identified as Shajir pressed his thumbs on the little bird in an effort to regulate its heart function. He continued to perform CPR for a few minutes till Myna gained consciousness.
As soon as the bird started flattering its wings, the man took the bird in his hand with much care. He perhaps wanted to feed the myna some water as the liquid would cool down its body. However, as soon as the person kept the bird in front of a water-filled bucket, it flew away.
Something similar happened in Uttar Pradesh earlier in May. Back then, a police officer went viral after he was spotted performing CPR on a monkey. News agency IANS brought the incident to light by sharing a video on X (formerly Twitter).
“In the premises of a police station in Bulandshahr, a lifeless monkey, unconscious from the heat, by a police officer hours and gave water, saving its life,” read the caption.
As reported by Times of India, the incident took place inside the premises of Chhatari police station. A monkey had supposedly fallen unconscious due to scorching heat when head constable Vikas Tomar came to its rescue. He first performed CPR and then tried to feed it some water from a plastic bottle.
Some of his colleagues were present there to assist Tomar. At the end of the video, the monkey looked fully cured and was seen playing with the kind-hearted police officer.
