Business tycoon Anand Mahindra’s social media handles have become a source of motivation. From innovative ventures to enlightening videos and much more, the Chairman of Mahindra Group never fails to leave his followers inspired and impressed. This time, the industrialist was left impressed with the newly inaugurated Thalassery-Mahe National Highway (NH) bypass in the south. It stretches from Muzhapilangad in the Kannur district to Azhiyoor in Kozhikode.
“Like a skyscraper lying down flat on its side,” Anand Mahindra wrote while sharing an eye-catching picture of the 18.6 kilometres six-lane bypass on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
“At first it looked like a concrete imposition on the natural landscape. But it has its own aesthetic. And I can’t deny the temptation to cruise down it and appreciate the beauty on either side,” Anand Mahindra further added.

As soon as the picture was dropped, it gathered more than 2 lakh views. The comment section was flooded with intriguing reactions. A user wrote, “Insanely beautiful and fascinating!! Driving on this would be so cool with the scenery.”
“This serves as a great example of India’s rising dominance in the infrastructure arena,” wrote another one.
“Absolutely! It’s amazing how infrastructure can sometimes enhance rather than detract from the environment,” a comment read.
“At first glance, it appears to be solar panels embedded on the motorway,” said another.
About Thalassery-Mahe National Highway:
The 18.6-km bypass, from Muzhappilangad in Kannur district to Azhiyoor in Kozhikode district is constructed at a cost of over Rs 1,500 crore. It features four major bridges including a 1,170-m-long bridge, a railway flyover at Azhiyoor, and numerous underpasses and overpasses. The bypass promises enhanced connectivity and convenience for passengers.
According to the Hindu report, the work commenced in November 2018 for which the process of land acquisition started in 1977. The project encountered delays attributed to various natural calamities and extended beyond its initially projected timeline. On March 11, the bypass was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
