A 26-year-old Indonesian man was left stupefied to discover that his newly-wed bride was a man. According to the South China Morning Post, this man, who used the alias AK realised this after 12 days into his marriage. AK had been conned into dating this man who wanted to scam him for money.
This revelation shocked the people with many observers left astounded that the couple had dated in person for a year before tying the knot in April. AK hails from Naringgul, a region on the island of Java. He met the “woman”, Adinda Kanza, 26, on social media in 2023.
As per reports, they both struck a bond online and then quickly made plans to meet in person. AK told SCMP that Kanza wore traditional Muslim attire covering her entire face when they met. According to the Indonesian man, she would claim herself to be a devout Muslim. AK added that the niqab did not bother him and viewed it as a sign of her devotion to Islam. Both individuals started planning their wedding.
Amid the preparations, Kanza mentioned she had no family to attend the wedding. Following this information, the couple decided to opt for a modest ceremony at AK’s home on April 12. She also brought 5 grams of gold as dowry but the couple did not officially register their marriage certificate.
Troubles started simmering in for the couple only 12 days after the marriage. The Indonesian man noticed that his bride showed reluctance in communicating with his family members. She also continued to wear her veiled attire at home. Kanza also frequently avoided getting intimate with AK, citing reasons ranging from her menstrual cycle to feeling unwell. This prompted the 26-year-old man to investigate more about her and he managed to find her family address. It was then he discovered that his bride was not an orphan as she had claimed. Instead, her parents were both alive and well. He also learned that Kanza was a man, identified as ESH, who has been cross-dressing since 2020.
