Nowadays, reality often surprises us and recent revelations about fast food chains have left many in disbelief. Everyone believed that the bright, colourful displays behind the order counter at fast food restaurants are massive digital menus, which feature tempting food items. However, a recent viral video has exposed a surprising truth, as these menus are not digital screens at all, but cleverly designed posters which are regularly changed manually by employees. In the footage, a KFC worker is seen lifting the lid of the menu board and inserting a physical banner, illuminated by LED lights, to update the displayed items.

Until now, most of us believed that the colourful menus displayed at fast food chains were digital screens, as the majority has seen the menu items and slides change frequently while we wait for our orders. However, a recent video from a KFC outlet has shattered this perception for numerous individuals, including the person who shared the video and wrote, “My whole life has been a lie.” Users in the comments section are expressing their shock, on the other hand, there were others who argued that not all restaurant chains use such methods and they indeed use digital screens.

Since the video was uploaded on X, it quickly went viral and garnered over 1 lakh views.

In response to the video, one user expressed surprise, stating they previously believed the menu was a digital screen.

Another user suggested that some fast food chains actually use digital screens where the images change automatically.

A user claimed they weren’t previously aware of such a display.

An individual questioned that all this time those were not television screens.

One more humourously stated that they knew the truth about the menu since childhood.

As per recent reports by Wall Street Journal, Yum Brands, the parent company of popular fast food chains like Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC, is gearing up to adopt artificial intelligence (AI). During an interview with the portal, Joe Park, chief digital and technology officer, spoke about the company’s intention to use “AI-first mentality.” The goal is to use AI to personalise offers for customers by understanding them better through the app. With approximately 45 per cent of Yum Restaurant’s sales comes from online orders and apps, the company feels AI could be crucial for them. While claiming that AI could enhance various restaurant experiences, he refused to disclose how much they’re investing in technology.
