WWE founder, Vince McMahon is being sued by a former employee, named Janel Grant. She has alleged that the former CEO has abused and sexually exploited her during his time as the CEO of the company. In addition to this, she has also alleged that she was used ‘as a pawn to secure talent deals,’ with wrestlers that the company looked to recruit.
A spokesman for Vince McMahon has issued a statement which refutes all the allegations. The statement says, “This lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and a vindictive distortion of the truth. He will vigorously defend himself.”
According to the entertainment publication, Variety, a spokesperson from the parent company of the WWE and UFC called the TKO Group Holdings said in a statement: “Mr. McMahon does not control TKO nor does he oversee the day-to-day operations of WWE. While this matter predates our TKO executive team’s tenure at the company, we take Ms. Grant’s horrific allegations very seriously and are addressing this matter internally.”

The lawsuit also mentioned that both Grant and McMahon lived in the same apartment building and met in March 2019. “After succumbing to the pressure for a physical relationship, Ms Grant was slotted into an entry-level position as an ‘administrator-coordinator’ — a position McMahon created for her in WWE’s legal department.” While the incidents escalated further, the lawsuit also alleges that Grant, “was abruptly pressured to resign from the WWE and forced to sign an NDA days before a major financial deadline. However, Mr. McMahon later refused to make payments to Ms. Grant, falsely claiming that she had leaked information to the press.”

McMahon had faced similar allegations previously as the former CEO had stepped down from his role in June 2022, in the middle of an investigation regarding alleged hush-money payments made to women who had accused him of sexual misconduct. It is also reported that” McMahon paid WWE $17.4 million for costs the company incurred in investigating misconduct allegations against him.”
The shocking news comes just two days after TKO signed a 10-year deal with Netflix which is valued at a whopping 500 million USD per year making it a significant boost in revenue for the company.
