UFC legend Conor McGregor seems to have more than one rivalry to settle upon his return to the Octagon. Only a few days after new featherweight champion Ilia Topuria challenged McGregor, the Irishman received a similar invitation from Michael Chandler. The American fighter made a shocking appearance on a recent episode of WWE RAW. Since Endeavor took UFC and WWE under the same umbrella in September last year, fans have been anticipating a cross-over between both companies. The hype might have led to Chandler’s participation at the WWE event, held in the US city of Anaheim on February 19.

When the show began, Michael Chandler was seated among the crowd. He stepped into the ring amid an electrifying promo, with announcer Samantha Irvin welcoming him to the WWE show. After he was handed over the microphone, Chandler took no time to call out Conor McGregor, referring to their “unfinished business”.

“You are in the presence of the most entertaining UFC fighter on the planet, Hey there’s a man from Ireland that’s been me waiting for way too long. And I still have one dude on my mind. Conor McGregor get your candy ass back to the octagon. We have got some unfinished business boys god bless I will see you at the top,” a confident Chandler announced on Monday Night RAW.

The rivalry between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler has been in the news since the duo faced off on the Ultimate Fighter 31 last year as opposing coaches. They were slated to resolve the matter in the octagon at the end of the season. The highly anticipated fight, however, never happened.

The potential matchup once again hit the headlines when McGregor announced his UFC return through an Instagram post on New Year’s Eve. The 35-year-old revealed that he would settle the rivalry with Chandler in a middleweight fight during International Fight Week in Las Vegas in June.

UFC CEO Dana White shared an update on the McGregor vs Chandler bout earlier this month. According to him, the company has yet to finalise the date of the fight. Speaking about its potential timeline, White said on The Pat McAfee Show, “Hopefully this year. There is no date. I’m hoping for the fall.”

Conor McGregor last competed at the UFC 281 in November 2022 when he was defeated by Dustin Poirier via third-round submission. Michael Chandler also lost to Poirier at the same event and since then, has been waiting to take on ‘The Notorious’ in the octagon.
