Gobert has been a phenomenal performer in the NBA this season. He is currently one of the favourite candidates for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.
Despite having a brilliant season, Gobert had a forgetful night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was roasted by the fans for botching a simple dunk in the game which should have been an easy two-pointer for the basketball star as he completely missed the rim. The buzzer sounded and his follow-up slam was not counted, leaving the Rocket Mortgage Arena laughing at the hilarious miss. Gobert finished the game with 17 rebounds and seven points which just weren’t enough to seal a victory for his side.
The Cleveland Cavaliers took home the victory 113-104 on the night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The match was hosted at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse stadium.
The Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland duo combined for a total of 67 points for the Cavaliers, sealing a comfortable victory for their side. Allen had a whopping 18 rebounds in the game whereas Garland contributed with eight assists. As for the Timberwolves, Naz Reid had the best performance for his side against the Cavaliers. He scored 34 points with five rebounds and two assists in the game.
Gobert didn’t have the brightest of starts in his debut season for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He punched his teammate Kyle Anderson in a key game and was initially considered to be a failed signing. However, the big Frenchman has completely turned his season around to become a top contender for the Defensive Player of the Year award.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently in second place in the Western Conference of the NBA. They have won 44 games this season while losing 20. The Timberwolves will next face the Los Angeles Lakers on March 11 at the Crypto.com Arena.
