The Big Business edition of AEW Dynamite was headlined by the debut of Mercedes Mone, a former WWE superstar who had previously wrestled under the ring name Sasha Banks.
After parting ways with WWE, the ex-Women’s Champion kicked off her career at New Japan Pro Wrestling where she also achieved tremendous success, winning several titles. Mone claimed the IWGP Women’s Championship and looked promising to secure the Strong Women’s Championship as well.
However an unfortunate ankle injury destroyed that hope. As she is now an All-Elite, “The CEO” will look to add more features to her crown as part of the Tony Khan-owned promotion.
Mone took centre stage at the AEW Big Business amid loud cheers, with the “CEO…CEO” chants echoing in TD Garden.

Mone first thanked the fans for backing her for the last two years when she was recovering from an ankle injury. “If you only knew how much tonight means to me… how much wrestling means to me. Thank you for giving me the courage and strength” an emotional Mone said on the mic.
It was undoubtedly a special moment for the 32-year-old, who got to make her AEW debut on home soil.

Mone further referred to the women wrestlers, who are currently signed with the company. She claimed that she has been watching “Dynamite” for weeks and is eager to work with all the All-Elite women in the locker room. Mone made a special mention of Willow Nightingale, saying that they had some unfinished business. The duo took on each other in the final of the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship tournament where More picked up an injury.
Despite making her debut this week, Mone has reportedly been contracted with AEW for nearly two months now. There were rumours that Mone would re-join WWE after recovering from injury. However the company reportedly failed to negotiate the terms. When Mone did not feature at Monday Night RAW or Royal Rumble, it was clear that she would join the AEW. She was set to make her debut earlier in January but Tony Khan wanted her to become fully fit.
