'Miss The Sun When It Starts to Snow': Social Media Lambasts Shivam Dube's Selection Over Rinku Singh Following Dismal Showing in IND vs PAK Clash

When it rains, it pours. And well, it is pouring criticism all over for Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube, who has come under intense flak following his disappointing showing against Pakistan on Sunday.

Rains, runs and reckless batting. The story of India’s historic innings against Pakistan today, where they registered the lowest-ever total in the T20 World Cup, as they were bundled for a meagre 119 runs.

Following a shock start, where openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were removed early, and India were left scrambling at 89-4 in the 12th over, the onus was placed on hard-hitter Shivam Dube to help his counterpart Rishabh Pant build India’s innings.

But, it was not meant to be for the CSK man, who was dismissed after a horribly misjudged shot off a Naseem Shah delivery, to walk back to the pavilion for a mere 3 runs off 9 balls.

To add more misery, Dube also dropped a sitter off Bumrah, who tempted Mohammed Rizwan into firing one straight into the hands of Dube at deep fine-leg, just to fumble it and give another life to the Pakistan opener.

The disappointing showing from Dube today has infuriated fans alike, who took to social media to vent out their frustrations over the all-rounder selection over KKR batter Rinku Singh, who was named as a reserve for the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup.

As strong as the 15-man unit named for the showpiece tournament in the West Indies and USA is, a few notable names missed out on the flight to North America and Rinku Singh was among the biggest names missing. However, the southpaw, who recently won the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders, has travelled to the tournament as a reserve player.

Rinku had done well whenever called up by the Indian side and recently revealed that it was difficult when he found out that he did not make the 15-member list.

“Anyone feels a little bad if he is not selected despite good performance,” he stated.

However, the 26-year-old batter said it wasn’t wise to think too much about things beyond your control.

“However, this time I could not get selected due to the team combination. It is okay, one should not think too much about things that are not in one’s hands,” he added.
