Buenos Aires: Forwards Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero have been called up for Argentina's two World Cup qualifiers in October, alongside Barcelona star Lionel Messi, coach Edgardo Bauza has announced.
Juventus striker Higuain had been overlooked by Bauza for a 1-0 win over Uruguay and 2-2 draw to Venezuela this month, while Manchester City's Aguero pulled out before the first match with a calf injury.
Messi, who did a u-turn on his decision to retire this summer, has been called up for the games against Peru and Paraguay on October 6 and 11, along with Paris Saint-Germain's Angel Di Maria.
Two-time world champions Argentina, runners-up to Germany in Brazil 2014, are third in their tough qualifying group with 15 points and need to win both matches to avoid a setback.
