Go to https://reddit.com or open the Reddit app. If you're using the Reddit mobile app, its icon looks like a face with an antenna on an orange background. If you're not signed in, you'll find the blue and white boxes to log in and sign up in the upper right corner of the page. If you yet don't have a Reddit account, you'll want to make one if you want to subscribe to any subreddits.
Click or tap the search bar at the top of the page. If you're using a mobile phone or tablet, the keyboard will slide up from the bottom of your screen.
Type your search keyword. If you know the name of the subreddit (e.g., studentloans), type that into the search bar. Otherwise, type a word that describes what you're looking for. As you're typing, you'll see search results drop-down, but if you want to browse for results, tap or click the Enter or Search key on your keyboard to initiate the search.
Click or tap the Communities and users tab. You'll see this in a row above the search results with "Best results." All the Reddit communities that have any relationship to your search will appear. Anything listed as "/r/" is a subreddit. It's listed as Communities on the mobile app. For example, if you searched "cats," you'll also get "/r/Makeup Addiction" because cat-eyes are mentioned and pictured.
Click a subreddit name. This opens the subreddit so you can check out the content. Click Join at the top of the subreddit if you'd like to save it to your subscription list.
