New Delhi: The refurbished Karni Singh Shooting Range has come in for rich praise from foreign shooters participating in the ongoing Commonwealth Games with a few terming it as one of the best ranges in the world.
Shooters from Australia, England and Singapore are in awe of the picturesque range that was renovated for the Games.
"It's right up there with the world's best and there is no doubt about that. We are really enjoying shooting in this range," said 21-year-old Australian shooter Tyren Vitler.
England's ace shooter James Huckle too praised the range.
"This shooting range is absolutely fantastic," said Huckle who combined with Kenny Parr to win silver in the 10-metre air rifle event on the first day of the shooting competition.
16-year-old Australian shooter Alethea Sedgman, who had won gold in the 50-metre rifle 3 positions event, said the range looks out of the world.
"I must say that the range is very good. I loved shooting here," Sedgman said.
An Australian team official added: "The lush greenery is what sets this range apart from other international ranges.
"We have a lot of ranges in Australia, including four in Melbourne alone, but none of them can match this range. This one is much better, no complaints."
Given its picturesque location overlooking the Aravali hills, the Karni Singh range was bound to please shooters from across the world.
The range, which was built during the 1982 Asian Games, became dilapidated due to poor maintenance. But after the demolition of the old structure, it now sports a new look with state-of-the-art-technology.
The separate ranges for trap and skeet had been converted into new composite ranges with the latest scoring equipment for the Commonwealth Games.
