Explosives seized, 2 held

TIRUNELVELI: Tirunelveli district police seized a huge cache of explosives near Tirunelveli on Monday.A jeep laden with explosives was going at Nariyooth, near Manur, on Monday night. Tirunelveli district police intercepted and seized the vehicle along with the explosives. The jeep driver - Mariappan (32) and its owner Arunagiri (54), of Thalaiyuthu, were arrested.On investigation, it was found that a huge cache of explosives was stored at a godown at Kanarpatti. The police rushed to the spot and seized the explosives, which were being illegally sold for blasting in quarries.
