KOCHI: The NCS/NCX service from the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), Vallarpadam, will begin on December 18. The NCS/NCX is a weekly mainline service from ICTT to China and the Far East, connecting major destinations like Singapore, Port Klang, Hong Kong, Shanghai etc. The first vessel MV Irenes Reliance is scheduled to arrive at the ICTT on December 18. The service offers faster transit to and from China and the Far East, key South Indian markets like Bangalore , Coimbatore , Tirupur, Pollachi, Erode and Salem. The transit timefrom Kochi to China will be reduced by one week. The transit time will be reduced to 15 days compared to around 24 days, using a feeder vessel to Colombo,” said the terminal authorities.“Besides consignments to China, it will also carry containers from Kochi to the US west coast, Australia and South America. Multiple connectivity from Singapore and Shanghai will ensure the fastest transit time from South India to these destinations,” they said.
